तस्माच्छास्त्रं प्रमाणं ते कार्याकार्यव्यवस्थितौ । ज्ञात्वा शास्त्रविधानोक्तं कर्म कर्तुमिहार्हसि | | १६-२४ | |

English: So whenever there is doubt whether you shouldst do a thing or not, let the scriptures guide your conduct. In the light of the scriptures shouldst you labour the whole of your life.

💡 Commentary Note

Therefore, let the scriptures be your authority in determining what ought to be done and what ought not to be done. Knowing this, perform your actions in accordance with the law.

Learnings from Shloka 24:
  • The Three Gates of Hell:: Lust (uncontrolled desire), anger, and greed are the three gates to darkness that ruin a person's life. They must be avoided completely.
  • The Path to Goodness:: By shutting these three gates of darkness, a person works for their true self-welfare and rises toward the highest state.
  • Scripture as a Guide:: When we are confused about what is right or wrong, we should look to wisdom teachings and scriptures (shastras) to make balanced, clean choices.
